Admission Process for International Students
Expatriates holding Employment or Entrepass visas can apply for admission to public government or government-aided schools through the Ministry of Education (MOE). If vacancies are available, students must obtain a Student Pass from the Immigration & Checkpoints Authority (ICA), unless they hold Dependent Passes. School fees in public schools are significantly lower than those of private institutions, typically ranging from $6 to $150 per month, with an additional biennial donation of $1,000 to the Education Fund.
Foreign students seeking admission to mainstream primary schools, secondary schools, junior colleges, and Millennia Institute can apply directly through the MOE or the respective schools of interest. The Admissions Exercise for International Students (AEIS) or the Supplementary Admissions Exercise for International Students (S-AEIS) facilitate admission to primary and secondary schools. These tests are conducted locally in Singapore.
Application Procedure
The application process typically involves submitting the application form and supporting documents directly to the school of choice. Upon assessment and acceptance, the school issues a Letter of Acceptance (LOA), indicating provisional admission, subject to obtaining a Student Pass from the ICA. Once the Student Pass is obtained, the applicant returns to the school within two weeks to secure admission formally.
International students are also required to contribute to the Education Fund through a biennial donation.
